Albuquerque Here We Come!

Another picture of Gary getting in trouble.  Note he is TOUCHING the statue.

Albuquerque:

This is the lovely view of the parking lot from our room in Albuquerqu!e.  I just love it that I can spell Albuquerque.  A+ for spelling!
We were so tired when we checked in but I desperately wanted a scotch.  Eve would be so proud of me:-)
I asked at the front desk and the clerk said to go to Walgreen's across the street as they had a full complement of liquor, beer and wine.  What a revelation!  I want this in Alexandria, I can pick up vodka with a card, makeup, a dozen eggs and some photos.

  What could be easier?
(I thought it was so cool I took a picture.  I must have been really tired.)

There was more the next day, but because it was Christmas Day everything was closed.  I had wanted to see the Old Town Albuq
uerque Luminaria display on Christmas Eve, but as you can see I chose Scotch over Jesus.  I will probably be damned but so be it.
Love the camera hold shadow in the lower pic.  I had massaged a picture of the Old Town Bandshell but can't find it tonight.
Tomorrow we go to El Paso and I'll post the pics from the Pink Store.  Old Mexico was a great adventure!

Oklahoma City Lookin' Mighty Pretty!

We left Oklahoma City about 1 o'clock, after touring the Cowboy Museum.  Of course Gary got in trouble with the security guards for standing on the base around an outdoor statue, maybe they thought he was going to harm it.  We just wanted a good picture.

Next we went to the Oklahoma City National Memorial.  It was a beautiful place where a terrible thing happened.  The funny thing was we spoke to park rangers who were bundled up with only a little bit of their faces showing whereas Gary and I had light jackets on.  One ranger said it was mighty cold out, almost 40 degrees!

This is what I had held in my mind of that day...

Charles Porter's photograph of firefighter Chris Fields holding the dying infant Baylee Almon won the Pulitzer Prize for Spot News Photography in 1996. A similar photo was taken by Lester LaRue.

...now I have other images.

There were about 6 park rangers patrolling the grounds, and maybe 10 visitors.  The rangers were bundled up and had only a small part of their faces showing - as they explained - it was almost 40 degrees and they were very cold! All the rangers had they typical green uniforms, and there was another man in all black and looked like something out of a movie.  He did not meet our gaze, and he looked kind of scary to me.  All in all, it was a place of peace.

On to Albuquerque!
